Angry Video Game Nerd Wiki

Wally Bear and the NO! Gang is an educational NES game that was meant to teach children to say no to potentially harmful drugs. It is notable for being an unlicensed Nintendo game, most likely because the game's content did not comply with Nintendo's content guidelines in effect at the time. The game was designed in cooperation with the American Medical Association and the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information.

Like in most early platform games, even getting hit once meant losing a "chance" to beat the game. The Wally Bear Hotline provided by this game, 1-800-HI-WALLY, was still active as of 2006. However, it was disconnected by October 2007, 15 years after the game was released. In 2014, an online rewiever named JonTron who is a friend of James Rolfe also reviewed this game in his episode Anti-Drug Games.

The eighth episode, was first released on September 1, 2006. The DVD version also included a deleted scene at the end for the Wally Bear Hotline. This is the first review of an unlicensed Nintendo game. However, the next episode would also review an unlicensed game: Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu.
