James Rolfe: It's Cinemassacre's "Monster Madness"! Get ready to turn down your IQ because it's time for "Leprechaun". There's really not much to say about this one. It's about a killer-leprechaun that's trying to reclaim his lost gold.

Leprechaun (in various scenes): I want me gold! I want me gold! Want me gold! I NEED ME GOLD!!!

James: By the way, he really wants his gold. It's as stupid as it sounds and it's as stupid as it looks. It stars young Jennifer 'Anisten'-- I mean 'Aniston', in her first feature role. I'm telling you it always goes back to horror movies. First she's in a horror movie, then a horrible TV-show… I'm just kidding, I never even watch "Friends". But I do watch movies about leprechauns that murder people with pogo-sticks. You'll never think of lucky charms the same way again.

The leprechaun is played by Warwick Davis. He's also remembered as Wicket, the main ewok in "Return of the Jedi" and as the title character in "Willow". When I first discovered that, it blew my mind to be able to connect two memorable characters from my childhood, like "Holy shit! Willow and Leprechaun are the same guy". The leprechaun's makeup is pretty cool, but the only reason to watch this movie and its sequels is because of the leprechaun's personality.

Leprechaun (in "Leprechaun 3"): There was an old man of Madras / Whose balls were made of fine brass. / So in stormy weather / They both clanged together / And sparks flew out of his arse! Hahaha!

James: One thing that's remarkably asinine is that the leprechaun has a fear of four leaved clovers. That would be like if Dracula was afraid of bats. There were many sequels. By "Part 3" Leprechaun is in Las Vegas.

Leprechaun (impersonating Elvis Presley): Well, thank you. Thank you very much.

Elvis impersonator: Hey, man. You do that pretty good.

James: And after that he goes to space, then to the hood. And then, if that wasn't enough, he goes "Back 2 tha Hood". It's common that most horror series get ridiculous as they go on, but "Leprechaun" is ridiculous from the start. It's a terrible movie but it has its place in the history of horror films. It opened the doors for all kinds of silly mascot horror icons. The world of cinema needed a killer-leprechaun.

Alex (as he fires a slingshot at Leprechaun): Fuck you, lucky charms!
