The Super Nintendo Entertainment System, or SNES, is a video game home console developed by Nintendo. It was originally released in Japan on November 23, 1990, as the Super Famicom and later released under the name Super Nintendo in August 1991 in North America and in 1992 in Europe. It is the successor to the Nintendo Entertainment System.
