Nintendo Co., Ltd. (任天堂株式会社 Nintendō Kabushiki gaisha?) is a Japanese multinational consumer electronics company located in Kyoto, Japan. Nintendo is the world's largest video game company by revenue. Founded on September 23, 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi, it originally produced handmade hanafuda playing cards. By 1963, the company had attempted several small niche businesses, such as cab services and love hotels. However the company is most noticeable for creating many popular video game consoles, handhelds and previously arcade games since 1975 to the present, as well as creating many popular video game franchises, including but not limited to Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Super Smash Bros. and Donkey Kong.
Nintendo's role in The Angry Video Game Nerd
Throughout the series, the Nerd mostly reviews Nintendo consoles and games, particularly 8-bit games for the Nintendo Entertainment System, as well as its redesigned model known informally as the toploader. He also reviews other Nintendo consoles such as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Famicom (Japanese NES), Nintendo 64 (three times) and the most recent console released on November 19, 2006, known as the Wii.
Occasionally, he also reviews games for the handheld systems also made by Nintendo including the Game Boy, Virtual Boy (once), Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance.
