Either let the article inform of IG or, better yet, just completely delete it. He's irrelevant to AVGN. At least Nostalgia Critic has made crossover appearances with AVGN directly referencing him a few times, but Irate Gamer has never made any appearance or reference in the show, so I suggest entirely deleting the article
I recently created a new Wikia account because I wanted a username change ("DavySprocket5" was my original account). However, it won't let me edit the J&MM page with my new account because the page is protected, so I was just wondering if permission to edit that page could be given to this account please. Thanks.
Looks like you've handled it well enough yourself. However, if him following you on multiple Wikia wikis is a problem, you'd probably have to discuss it with someone on the Wikia main staff instead.
If he keeps coming back to bother you on this Wiki, I'll look further into it. For now, he's just done one bad thing. If I banned people for that, this Wiki wouldn't last very long. Repeated, ongoing vandalism is something I'd look seriously at, but this is just one incident.
Hong Kong 97 better than Big Rigs? Are you kidding me? Big Rigs is 100.000 times better. It has no rules and has better quality than the creepy pictures from Happysoft´s abomination. It´s more entertaining and doesn´t give you nightmares. Not to mention, the background music is completely absent. Yeah, that could make the game a bit boring. but dead silence is a better option than an endless loop of I Love Beijing Tiananmen
Well, when you say "episode", it usually means one of two things on the wiki.
Transcript - pretty obvious, but a lot of work. WIPs are welcome because they're big jobs, usually others are happy to finish them off.
Episode summary - a summary of the plot of the video with a brief history of the game's release date and the console it was released for.
Either one is welcome, though transcripts tend to be finished more quickly than summaries. Any other information you can add is helpful, so long as it doesn't go into rumours about real people or copies any Wikipedia article word-for-word.
You're sharp. Sorry for doing that, I should have tried to rework those articles into something better before removing them and using Wikipedia links. I'll tell you what's on my mind about this subject so you understand what I tried to do.
I was thinking of reworking a fair amount of the single-game or console articles because a lot of them only make passing reference to the Nerd, if at all. Some of these articles are near-direct copies of things from Wikipedia, which is bad because it means it brings no new content to the Wiki. It's also not good Wiki/a policy to do that and is discouraged unless there's a really good reason for it.
On a side note, this bad practice of copying Wikipedia also clogged up the Categories with a lot of things that are difficult for the average fan to understand. A category referring to "disestablishments" doesn't matter in the context of an AVGN or Cinemassacre Productions fan Wiki.
Making the game/console articles into Episode-style pages to supplement the content in the Transcripts is one possibility to solve the problem. Then the focus wouldn't be on repeating information, but adding information in the context of what a Nerd episode (or James & Mike Mondays, or solo videos from Mike or James out-of-character) showed.
It was an idea I wasn't sure everyone else (admins/editors/viewers) would like, though. It would be a big job and we'd likely lose at least some of our articles completely if they couldn't be reworked into the context of AVGN or any gaming-related Cinemassacre series/videos.
That's why I haven't reworked any articles, nor do I want anyone else to until I've had a discussion with everyone on the Forums. It's a big issue, not something easily solved. Everyone else's input on this may help us develop a better solution on what to do, or what not to do, for that matter.
And you're never bothering me, honest. :) I'm glad you're concerned about the direction the Wiki is going in. Sorry for being long-winded, but I should be more transparent with what I do and why.
Luka1184 and I have been thinking of design changes to the Wiki, too. You can check out how far we've discussed this on his Message Wall.
The colour scheme is a bit tricky. Will red on black be very readable for long periods of time? I still want the Wiki to be bold without clashing too much, it might discourage visitors from staying very long. Maybe red on the very dark grey we have instead?
I am biased, though, because I was thinking of a retro IBM-look when I started this theme. I sampled some of the red/orange/yellow/black default themes back then and they didn't look very appealling.
Still agree with you, though, we need a change. Something that'll look "Angry" without making your eyes hurt. You're also free to check out the Theme Designer, to try out some default or custom colour schemes.
I'll try changing a few things with the design of the Wiki, too, but I won't make any final changes. It's a big WIP for all three of us, everyone's ideas and input are important.
