Death Mwauthzyx (/ˌdɛθ ˌmɑɒθɸˈzɪks/ or /ˌdɛθ ˌmɑɒθɸˈziksˌzks)) is a fictional character and the main antagonist of Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie and The Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures 2: ASSimilation as the final boss. He is a gigantic Cyber-Mutant Death God with the body of a giant robotic cyborg moth with a satellite dish on top of his head, sharp metallic teeth and huge metal wings that gives him the ability to fly. He has four metal tentacles in addition to his two arms, two of which, the top ones, have robotic pincers attached to their end, one of which has a black tube to hold things in and one of which has a huge magnet attached to the end that has the power to attract women.[1]

Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie[]

Death Mwauthzyx is a Cyber-Mutant Death God, who lives under Mount Fuji. He is the creator of both God and Satan. Death Mwauthzyx has the power to end all life as we know it. With a single 360 degree turn of the satellite dish on top of his head, every universe in the multiverse will disappear. The ultraverse and the megaverse will collapse. The six dimensions will flatten into one, and all existence will be obliterated. The only thing left will be a scaleless bologna sandwich. Death Mwauthzyx has the body of a giant robotic cyborg moth. Death Mwauthzyx is seemingly the father of the alien responsible for the creation of Earth and humankind, however according to the alien he's only known his "dad" Death Mwauthzyx for "5,000 years" while the Earth is 4.543 billion years old, and humanity (with its ancestors) 6,200,000 years old. It's possible that the alien's sense of time is different than a human's, perhaps being of a higher dimension, or that Death Mwauthzyx is not literally his father. Another possibility is that the Earth is truly just 5,000 years in the universe of the Angry Video Game Nerd.[1]

The Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures 2: ASSimilation[]

Death Mwauthzyx is the main antagonist and final boss of the game The Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures 2: ASSimilation as he turns the world into a shitty game and turns everyone except for the Nerd and Nostalgia Critic into game enemies. In the Deluxe version, he was replaced by the Fuckotron 9000, a machine built by Fred Fucks, as the intellectual property license for Death Mwauthzyx is owned by Screenwave Media.

Trivia[]

Death Mwauthzyx Mike Matei drawing

Mike Matei's concept drawing of Death Mwauthzyx via his sketchbook

  • According to the Q&A session following the movie's premiere, the concept of Death Mwauthzyx actually predates the Angry Video Game NerdJames Rolfe and Mike Matei came up with the character as the successor to Super Mecha Death Christ, if they were to ever make a hypothetical sequel to "Wizard of Oz 3: Dorothy Goes to Hell." The character's design was also drawn by Mike Matei. [2]
  • The character pays homage to the Japanese Kaiju monster movies, including Godzilla.
  • Death Mwautzyx have two spoken "lines" in the film, which are said in an alien language, with both Japanese and English subtitles provided, another reference to Japanese kaiju films. However, in a comic twist of events, for the first line he speaks, the Japanese subtitles are not correct. In the scene, he yells/roars "Psyche!", in the sense of "I'm just kidding!", just a moment after having looked like he was about to end the whole universe. However, the Japanese subtitles read 私はあなたをずまし (Watashi wa anata ni itazura o shite imasu), a way to say "I love you" in Japanese. The subtitles for the second line are fairly accurate. In this scene, Death Mwauzyx yells "Chick magnet!" after just having attrached and trapped Mandi to a magnet at the end of one of his magnets. Here, the Japanese subtitles read "女の子磁石" (On'nanoko jishaku), with 女の子 meaning "girl" and 磁石 meaning "magnet," so "girl magnet".
    • There is no explanation as to how the Japanese denizens of Tokyo are able to understand Death Mwauthzyx when he yells "Psyche!" in an alien language, however it is possible that they are simply familiar with him and his lore. After all, he lives under their volcano, Mount Fuji.
